I’ve been thinking about this post for a while, struggling to come up with what to celebrate for yet another Sunday in Lent. Last night I was feeling particularly stressed about not only coming up with something to post but finding time to post it, since this second Sunday of the month I leave church after youth group ends and come back within 2 hours to spend most of the rest of the evening at church.
I walked in to church this morning and took this picture. I thought I would “celebrate” getting to spend another wonderful Sunday at church with my friends, or maybe I’d “celebrate” the gifts of music from the Wesley Bell Ringers, or even the food we’d have during the pancake breakfast (let alone that Girl Scout cookies came in today!).
But then I sat in church and listened to the sermon. Today Pastor Jean talked about how we all have a little spark of us that is the image of God. Even if we ignore it or pretend like we don’t need it, God is there in all of our souls. So today, I am celebrating giving my soul over to God, and letting that piece of God within me grow.
